May 2025 – Nadia Cascini’s first sculpture serie: KINTSUGI – SOUND

“A new voice takes shape.
It does not sound, but it speaks.
Of matter. Of silence. Of transformation.

My first art language, as the daughter of craftsman goldsmiths, was that of precious metals, of matter being transformed: from raw to shiny, drawn, engraved, chiseled.
Through my studies I learned to recognize invisible details, to sculpt the balance between form and meaning.
From this life experience I bring with me precision, respect for what is small and precious.

Kintsugi Sound, my first sculpture cycle, was born from this.

The hand-perforated butterflies that inhabit these violets are not just decorative elements: they are traces, reminiscences, recurring forms in my workshop sketches, light symbols of metamorphosis that fit into a larger material, and contrast with it.
Like precious stones in jewelry.
Thus the violet becomes the body and symbol of a universal language: music.
Crossed by golden lines inspired by the ancient Japanese art of kintsugi, it bears the marks of fracture as part of its own voice.
The sound exists overbearingly in the tension of the stylized form, in the light that pierces the void, in the imperfections that repair themselves.

Each sculpture is a return to the earth and the hand gesture. The treated surfaces, the broken and recomposed volumes, and the details in goldporin create an intimate dialogue between silence and memory, matter and spirituality.
A hymn to fragility that turns into strength.

To the music that is also born from silence.
